Every institution has its problems. Sometimes those problems lead to real heartache within our communities. When we recognize that and work to solve those problems, bridges are built, relationships are forged and some beautiful progress is made.
This policeman and barber have set aside their preconceived notions of each other to build a relationship that’s great for their community.
Charlotte, NC barber Shaun Corbett saw a need in his community after the death of Michael Brown and began having talks in his shop about race and race relations. CMPD Policeman Captain Rob Dance started participating and they are now besties who are leading by example. The program has grown beyond the shop and the duo now host dinners, tutor kids and discuss race at schools. This is a bromance that truly warms our hearts.
